Special Education Teacher - Athens, Illinois

Key Qualifications:

• Valid Special Education teaching certification
• Relevant experience working in special education in school settings
• Knowledgeable in developing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
• Strong classroom management and communication skills
• Compassion, patience, and dedication to supporting diverse learners
• Familiarity with federal and state special education regulations

Primary Responsibilities:

• Create and carry out lesson plans tailored to students’ individualized needs and learning goals
• Assess student abilities, progress, and adjust teaching methods when necessary
• Collaborate with support staff, general education teachers, and families to promote student success
• Maintain accurate documentation including IEPs, progress reports, and daily records
• Participate in IEP meetings, parent conferences, and professional development opportunities
• Foster a safe, inclusive, and positive classroom environment
