A full-time Special Education Teacher is needed to provide specialized instruction and support for elementary students in a school setting located in Kendallville, IN. This role focuses on delivering high-quality education to students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and other special needs.

Location: Kendallville, IN 46755
Position: Full-Time Special Education Teacher (Elementary K-6)
Term: Immediate start through end of school year, with opportunities for permanent hire or contract renewal for extended terms
Working Hours: 7:30 AM – 3:30 PM, Monday through Friday (40 hours per week)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with mild to intense intervention needs
  • Provide direct instruction and support to students predominantly within Applied Skills classes
  • Utilize specialized strategies and resources tailored for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, therapists, and families to promote student growth and progress
  • Monitor and assess student performance and adjust instructional methods accordingly
  • Maintain accurate documentation and participate in team meetings and professional development

Desired Qualifications:

  • Valid Special Education teaching certification with Mild or Intense Intervention license
  • Experience working with elementary-aged students (K-6) in a special education setting
  • Strong background and skills in supporting students with Autism Spectrum Disorder
  • Ability to create positive learning environments and adapt teaching techniques to meet diverse student needs
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills with staff and families
