Special Education Teacher | Transition Classroom

Soliant is seeking a qualified Special Education Teacher to support a transition classroom serving students ages 18–22 for the 2026–2027 school year near Auburn, Washington.

This opportunity is ideal for an experienced special education professional who is passionate about preparing young adults with disabilities for life beyond high school and supporting their development of academic, functional, vocational, and independent living skills.

Position: Special Education Teacher – Transition Classroom

Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Duration: Full 2026–2027 School Year

Student Population: Students ages 18–22
Classroom: Transition Classroom

Responsibilities

• Provide specialized instruction to students ages 18–22 in a transition classroom setting.
• Develop and implement individualized instruction based on students' academic, functional, behavioral, vocational, and educational needs.
• Support students in meeting their IEP goals and developing skills for life after high school.
• Provide instruction focused on independent living, community participation, employment readiness, and functional academics as appropriate.
• Monitor student progress and maintain accurate documentation related to IEP goals and services.
• Collaborate with school staff, administrators, related service providers, families, and community partners.
• Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to the development and implementation of individualized transition goals.
• Provide appropriate accommodations, modifications, and differentiated instruction.
• Maintain a structured, supportive, and inclusive classroom environment.
• Support students in developing greater independence and preparing for post-secondary opportunities.

Required Qualifications

• Active Washington State Special Education license required.
• ESA certificate required.
• At least 5 years of professional special education experience required.
• Previous school-based experience strongly preferred.
• Candidates should have several years of experience and be established in their special education career.
• Current WA SPED license and ESA certificate verification must be provided at time of submission.
• Ability to work onsite full-time, 37.5 hours per week.
• Strong communication, organization, classroom management, and collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience working in a transition classroom.
• Experience supporting students ages 18–22.
• Experience developing and implementing transition-focused IEP goals.
• Experience supporting independent living, vocational, community-based, and post-secondary readiness skills.
• Several years of experience working with students with disabilities in a school-based setting.
• Strong understanding of individualized transition planning and post-secondary preparation.
