As a contract Special Education Teacher, you will collaborate with talented educators and paraprofessionals to create inclusive and supportive classroom environments where every student thrives.
Opportunities are available for full-time (37.5 hours/week) and part-time (0.5 FTE) positions, each school year-long and based at a single school, ranging from elementary to high school levels.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Valid Colorado Department of Education teaching certificate with Special Education endorsement
- Experience teaching students with significant autism needs, including non-verbal students and those using AAC devices, highly valued
- Demonstrated skill in implementing life skills instruction and structured learning services (SLS) for students with autism and emotional dysregulation
- Proficiency with de-escalating unsafe behaviors, managing adults, and using data-driven systems, especially in AN and SSN settings
- Commitment to building safe, supportive learning environments for students with cognitive, mobility, communication, and/or social-emotional needs
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement individualized instruction and behavioral supports for students with significant support needs
- Manage a self-contained classroom, generally with 8-15 students (grades K-8 or high school), collaborating with paras and fellow educators
- Build life skills and facilitate student integration into daily school routines
- Engage in data collection and analysis to inform teaching and interventions
- Partner with specialized service providers and participate in collaborative planning
