Make a real difference in the lives of students with special needs in the North Denver area as a dedicated Special Education Teacher for the 2026–2027 school year. Multiple full-time positions are available across elementary and middle schools, all located within a supportive and collaborative district. Your expertise will help shape a positive educational experience for students with diverse learning needs, including those with significant autism, non-verbal communication, and behavioral/emotional challenges.
Roles available include Affective Needs (AN) Teacher, Structured Learning Services (SLS) Teacher, SSN (Significant Support Needs) Teacher, and Learning Specialists. You’ll benefit from dedicated paraprofessional and teacher support in structured classrooms, offering an exceptional environment both for teaching and professional growth.
Desired Experience & Qualifications:
- Valid Colorado Department of Education certification with Special Education endorsement
- Proven ability to support students with significant autism needs; experience with non-verbal students and AAC devices highly preferred
- Skilled in implementing strong, data-driven systems and de-escalating unsafe behaviors
- Experience managing adults in a classroom setting
- Knowledge of life skills instruction, behavioral support, and emotional regulation
- Flexible, collaborative, and eager to partner with staff and service providers
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to student strengths and needs
- Collaborate with paraprofessionals, specialists, and other educators for comprehensive support
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and structured classroom environment
- Utilize assistive technology and adaptive communication methods
- Maintain regular communication with families and school staff
Available full-time assignments include:
- Affective Needs Teacher at Cherry Drive Elementary
- SLS Teacher (Grades K–2, self-contained Autism) at Hillcrest Elementary
- SSN Teacher (center-based) at Arapahoe Ridge Elementary
- Learning Specialists at Rocky Top Middle School and Federal Heights Elementary
