Make a powerful impact in the lives of students as a Special Education professional in the Aurora, CO area! Multiple elementary schools are seeking dedicated Special Education Teachers to join their teams for the 2026-2027 school year on a contract basis. Each position is full-time (37.5 hours per week) and assigned to one school, ensuring you’ll build lasting relationships with students and staff.

Open Roles and Focus Areas:

  • Learning Specialist (Mild/Moderate Needs) at Woodglen and Arapahoe Ridge Elementary: Support elementary students as a resource teacher; provide individualized instruction and collaborate with general education teachers.
  • Affective Needs Specialist at Cherry Drive Elementary: Guide students with significant emotional and behavioral needs, lead a collaborative team of paraprofessionals, and draw on expertise in behavioral interventions such as CPI, ABA, and autism support. Strong FBA/BIP skills are highly valued.
  • Structured Learning Services at Hunters Glen Elementary: Work with a small self-contained classroom (8-15 students) serving learners with cognitive and behavioral disabilities. Preference for autism experience and backgrounds in behavioral, ABA, and station-based learning models.

Qualifications:

  • Active Colorado Department of Education teaching license with Special Education Generalist 5-21 endorsement.
  • Experience supporting students with mild to severe disabilities in a school-based setting.
  • Ability and enthusiasm to lead teams of paraprofessionals (where applicable).
  • Strong skills in de-escalation, behavior supports, and collaborative service delivery.
  • Outstanding communication and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
