Special Education Teacher in Aurora, CO

Passionate educators have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact supporting elementary students with mild to moderate needs in a welcoming, collaborative environment. This contract assignment provides the chance to serve as a Special Education Teacher for the academic year, working closely with a dedicated team and supportive leadership.

The position is based at an elementary school and follows a Tuesday–Friday schedule (with Mondays off), totaling 34 hours per week from 7:30 am to 4:30 pm. You’ll manage a mild/moderate caseload, fostering growth by tailoring lessons to individual student strengths and challenges. Enjoy a consistent, structured routine while further developing your expertise as a Special Education Teacher.

Desired Qualifications:

• Valid Colorado Department of Education (CDE) Special Education Teacher licensure
• Experience supporting students with mild to moderate disabilities, preferably at the elementary level
• Adept at creating Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and collaborating with families and interdisciplinary teams
• Strong communication, organization, and adaptability skills
• Dedicated to promoting equitable learning and student empowerment

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement effective instructional strategies tailored to diverse learning needs
• Monitor student progress and maintain detailed records in accordance with legal and school guidelines
• Collaborate with general education teachers and related service providers
• Communicate regularly with caregivers to foster shared student goals
