Special Education Teacher - Aurora, Colorado

Key Qualifications:

• Valid CDE Special Education (SPED) License with Generalist Endorsement (5-21) is mandatory
  • The license must be current or proof of completed application for the correct endorsement is required
  • Example: Professional Teacher License #000000, Endorsed In: Special Education Generalist (5-21)
• Cannot accept travelers, substitute, temporary, or interim licenses unless the correct SPED license with endorsement has been formally applied for
• In-person teaching only; remote or hybrid formats are not available
• Strong foundation in instructional practices, specialized strategies, and Specially Designed Instruction (SDI)
• Expert knowledge and experience with IEP development and the IEP process
• Commitment to working closely with academic staff, specialists, and the IEP team to support students—particularly those on alternative standards

Primary Responsibilities:

• Deliver engaging, individualized instruction aligned to student IEPs
• Employ a variety of evidence-based approaches to promote student growth
• Design lesson plans and modify instruction to address unique learning needs
• Lead and actively participate in IEP meetings, collaborating with staff and families
• Foster a supportive, inclusive classroom with high expectations for all students
• Monitor student progress and maintain thorough documentation
