Key Qualifications:
- Valid CDE Special Education (SPED) License with Generalist Endorsement (5-21) is mandatory
- The license must be current or proof of completed application for the correct endorsement is required
- Example: Professional Teacher License #000000, Endorsed In: Special Education Generalist (5-21)
- Cannot accept travelers, substitute, temporary, or interim licenses unless the correct SPED license with endorsement has been formally applied for
- In-person teaching only; remote or hybrid formats are not available
- Strong foundation in instructional practices, specialized strategies, and Specially Designed Instruction (SDI)
- Expert knowledge and experience with IEP development and the IEP process
- Commitment to working closely with academic staff, specialists, and the IEP team to support students—particularly those on alternative standards
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging, individualized instruction aligned to student IEPs
- Employ a variety of evidence-based approaches to promote student growth
- Design lesson plans and modify instruction to address unique learning needs
- Lead and actively participate in IEP meetings, collaborating with staff and families
- Foster a supportive, inclusive classroom with high expectations for all students
- Monitor student progress and maintain thorough documentation
