Take your expertise in special education to the next level by supporting students in innovative learning environments near Aurora, IL. This contract position is ideal for a dedicated Special Education Teacher passionate about making meaningful connections and fostering student growth.

You’ll have the opportunity to serve students in two thoughtfully designed programs:

Hermansen Elementary:

  • Teach in a Structured Teaching and Learning Room (STLR), a specialized, self-contained setting developed for students with Autism and Functional Communication needs.
  • Support a manageable caseload of 10-13 students, focusing on individualized teaching strategies that promote academic, social, and emotional development.

Martinez Middle School:

  • Collaborate as a co-teacher in Supported Education, working closely with general education teachers to deliver differentiated instruction and adaptive curriculum.
  • Guide up to 13 students, ensuring their unique learning profiles are addressed throughout the academic day.

Qualifications & Background:

  • Valid Special Education teaching certification.
  • Previous experience working with students with Autism, significant communication needs, and diverse learning profiles is preferred.
  • Strong collaborative skills for team teaching and partnership with staff and families.
  • Excellent organizational abilities to keep documentation and lesson plans current.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
  • Adapt lessons to meet each student’s unique goals and performance levels.
  • Foster a safe, supportive classroom climate.
  • Assess progress, provide feedback, and adjust strategies as needed.
  • Communicate regularly with families and multidisciplinary teams.
