Step into a rewarding contract opportunity as a Special Education Teacher supporting upper school students in a collaborative and well-resourced environment in North Austin, TX. This full-time position spans 7:30-7:45 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday through Friday, working with a caseload of 25–30 students in grades 6–12, primarily within Integrated Humanities/English Language Arts and Social/Life Skills in a Resource Inclusion setting.
This role offers a spacious classroom with a shared mathematics partition, as well as paraprofessional support to assist with classroom flow. The thoughtfully provided curriculum, regular dedicated planning periods, and weekly collaboration sessions with fellow educators help foster creativity and connection.
Key Qualifications:
- Active Texas Department of Education license in Special Education and Generalist/Core 6–12
- Demonstrated experience with Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) processes; confidently contributing in meetings
- Proven ability to adapt lessons for students with varying academic and life skills levels
- Commitment to promoting equality and community through adherence to the school dress code (professional attire, natural hair color, limited piercings)

Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging and differentiated instruction in Integrated Humanities/ELA and Social/Life Skills
- Collaborate with paraprofessionals and fellow teachers for inclusive student support
- Facilitate minimal Life Skills blocks (serving 3 students per period) and individual instructional blocks for students with unique needs
- Participate in ARD meetings and maintain accurate documentation
- Encourage a respectful, equitable, and positive classroom atmosphere
