A full-time Special Education Teacher position is available at an elementary school in Avondale, AZ, specializing in early childhood education for students with high needs, particularly those with autism. This contract role runs through May 21, 2026, focusing on a half-day program with structured sessions and a capped class size.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction utilizing the STARS curriculum in a self-contained classroom with up to 8 students.
- Develop, implement, and monitor individualized education programs (IEPs).
- Lead and collaborate with paraprofessionals and support staff to meet IEP goals.
- Participate in and support non-certified team members with IEP meetings and documentation.
- Manage a caseload that includes facilitating approximately 79 Kindergarten transition IEP meetings beginning in January.
- Maintain consistent communication with families and school teams regarding student progress.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid Arizona Early Childhood Special Education (EC SPED) license required.
- IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card must be present.
- Extensive experience working with students with autism and other high-need areas.
- Proficiency in instructional planning, behavior support strategies, and IEP development.
- Ability to lead and support both certified and non-certified team members effectively.
