Special Education Teacher - Bassett, Virginia

Step into a rewarding opportunity as an onsite Special Education Teacher working with elementary and middle school students. This full-time contract position will allow you to make a meaningful impact by fostering student growth, building supportive learning environments, and collaborating closely with fellow educators.

There are two openings available:

• One assignment serves a K-7th grade classroom with a caseload of 17 students.
• The second assignment focuses on students in 4th through 7th grade, supporting a caseload of 16.

Essential Qualifications:

• Valid Special Education Teaching Certification (or eligibility for certification)
• Proficiency in adapting curricula and behavior management for diverse learner needs
• Prior experience working with K-7th grade students a plus
• Strong communication skills to engage with students, families, and staff
• Ability to manage paperwork, IEPs, and assessment in accordance with school policies
• Passion for collaborative, inclusive education

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for each student
• Modify instructional activities to accommodate different learning styles and abilities
• Track student progress and adjust strategies as needed to maximize success
• Collaborate regularly with general education teachers, therapists, and administrators
• Foster a safe, respectful, and positive classroom community
• Maintain up-to-date records and communicate effectively with families
