Qualifications and Experience:
- Current, active Michigan Special Education Teacher license (verification required)
- Experience working with high school students, preferably in Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) program settings
- Strong classroom management and individualized instruction skills
- Ability to develop and implement IEPs tailored to student needs
- Positive attitude, compassion, and commitment to inclusive education
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with colleagues, families, and support staff
Responsibilities:
- Teach and support high school-age students in ASD-designated classrooms
- Develop, adapt, and deliver individualized lesson plans and instructional strategies
- Maintain accurate, detailed records and documentation, including IEPs and assessments
- Create a safe, structured, and welcoming learning environment for all students
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams—educators, therapists, and administrators—to ensure student success
- Provide regular communication with families regarding student progress and needs
- Participate in professional development and training as required by the district
