A rewarding contract opportunity is available for experienced Special Education Teachers eager to support elementary and middle school students in a resource classroom setting near Battle Creek, MI. With positions open at both the elementary and middle school levels, educators can specify their preferred age group to best align with their expertise and passion. This role focuses on providing personalized instruction and growth for a manageable caseload—10 elementary or 11 middle school students—ensuring ample opportunity for meaningful student engagement.

Key Qualifications:

• Active Michigan Special Education Teacher License required
• Experience working with elementary and/or middle school students within a resource setting is highly desirable
• Strong communication and collaboration abilities, working closely with general education staff and families
• Ability to develop and implement IEPs tailored to individual student needs
• Commitment to fostering an inclusive, supportive classroom environment

Role Responsibilities:

• Deliver individualized and small-group instruction in a resource classroom
• Create and monitor IEPs, goals, and progress for each student on your caseload
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including related service providers and classroom teachers
• Maintain accurate records and data to track student outcomes
• Encourage positive behaviors and promote social-emotional growth
• Engage with families and caregivers to support student development

Details at a Glance:

• Contract runs ASAP through early June 2027 (tentative end date: 6.10.2027)
• 35 hours per week, split between Athens High School and East Leroy Elementary
• Daily schedules: 7:35 a.m. – 2:40 p.m. (high school), 7:55 a.m. – 3:10 p.m. (elementary)
• Positions available at both the elementary and middle school levels
