Two special education teaching positions are open for skilled educators who are ready to support elementary learners and foster growth in a supportive educational environment. This full-time position runs from August 2026 through June 2027, with a schedule of 32-37.5 hours per week (Monday through Friday).
There are two distinct roles available:
- One role supports a resource room serving 5th and 6th grade students, managing a caseload of about 15 learners.
- The other oversees a self-contained Life Skills/Intensive Needs classroom, providing individualized instruction for three students with complex medical needs and/or autism spectrum disorders, with paraprofessionals assigned to each child.
Desired Qualifications:
- Valid special education teaching certification for the relevant grade levels
- Previous experience teaching in resource rooms and/or self-contained classrooms is highly valued
- Strong background in developing and implementing IEPs
- Ability to collaborate effectively with support staff, paraprofessionals, and other specialists
- Compassion, adaptability, and commitment to supporting students with diverse learning and medical needs
- Excellent communication, organization, and classroom management skills
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to student needs
- Work closely with paraprofessionals and related service providers to ensure a collaborative, supportive environment
- Maintain open communication with families and staff to foster student success
- Implement evidence-based instructional strategies and behavioral supports
- Adjust teaching methods and goals according to each student’s progress and needs
