Your assignment will be full-time from August 2026 through June 2027, Monday through Friday, with positions available for two talented special education teachers. One role focuses on resource room support for 5th and 6th grade students, managing a caseload of approximately 15 students. The other offers the chance to guide a Life Skills/Intensive Needs self-contained classroom for three students facing complex medical needs or autism spectrum disorders—each supported by a dedicated paraprofessional.
Desired Qualifications:
- Current, valid teaching certification in Special Education
- Previous experience with upper elementary (5th/6th) grade students preferred
- Strong ability to adapt to changing classroom dynamics and needs
- Experience working with medically complex students and/or autism spectrum disorders (for Life Skills role)
- Effective communication, collaboration, and team leadership skills
Primary Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and monitor individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Foster a supportive, inclusive learning environment tailored to each student
- Oversee and collaborate with paraprofessionals as needed
- Document student progress and communicate effectively with families and staff
- Adapt curriculum to meet varied learning capabilities and needs
