Step into a dynamic contract opportunity supporting students as a Special Education Teacher for the 2026–2027 academic year. This role allows you to make a meaningful impact by teaching and supporting students with diverse needs in a collaborative, single-building setting. The assignment runs from late August to early June, offering valuable experience across both multi-disabilities (MD) and emotional disabilities (ED) classrooms.
You’ll be responsible for one classroom with 9–12 students who may have multiple disabilities, including autism, limited verbal communication, or physical impairments. Additionally, you will take on a classroom of 10–15 students focused on emotional disabilities, including social-emotional learning, implementing behavior intervention plans, and crisis intervention. Your expertise and dedication can make all the difference for these students throughout the school year.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Valid, current licensure as a Special Education Teacher is required
- Experience supporting students with multiple disabilities such as autism, non-verbal communication, or physical challenges
- Background working with emotional and behavioral disabilities, including experience implementing BIPs and crisis intervention
- Strong collaborative and communication skills
- Ability to create a structured, nurturing classroom environment
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide instruction tailored to each student’s IEP goals
- Employ evidence-based strategies to address academic, social, and behavioral needs
- Foster positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues
- Document student progress and participate in IEP meetings as needed
- Maintain a safe and supportive learning environment
