Special Education Teacher - Bellows Falls, Vermont

Three contract openings are available for Special Education Teachers beginning in August 2026 and running through June 2027. These positions offer a dynamic setting—two are based at the high school level supporting a new, innovative pilot program, while the third is at an elementary facility with a strong, multidisciplinary team.

What You’ll Need:

• Valid Vermont Professional Teaching License with one of the following endorsements:
  • Special Educator
  • Special Education Consulting Teacher
  • Intensive Special Education Teacher
• Experience or strong interest in supporting students with Autism, executive function challenges, severe behaviors, or learning disabilities in reading, writing, and math
• Flexibility and creativity—especially for the high school pilot program roles, striving for unique approaches to real-world employment and life skills
• Ability to work collaboratively with PT/OT and a team of teachers (elementary role)
• Fingerprinting clearance (district accepts approved fingerprints from previous Vermont school assignments)

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each student’s needs
• Foster a supportive learning environment and collaborate closely with support staff and faculty
• Participate in a pilot high school program designed to prepare students for employment and daily living (for high school openings)
• Contribute to an elementary team addressing learning and behavioral needs, ensuring students achieve academic progress
• Maintain open communication with families and promote student independence
