Special Education Teacher – Cross-Categorical & Resource Support Roles

Grades: K–8, including K–5 Resource, Grades 1–2, Grade 3, Grade 4, Grade 5, and Middle School

Position Type: Full-time, school-based
Program Types: Cross-categorical instructional programming and resource support

We are seeking Special Education Teachers to support students across elementary and middle school settings. These roles serve students with a wide range of academic, behavioral, communication, adaptive, functional, and social-emotional needs.

Teachers may support students in cross-categorical classrooms or resource programming, depending on assignment. Instruction will be aligned to grade-level standards while also targeting individualized IEP goals, specialized instruction needs, accommodations, and intervention supports.

Requirements:
Must hold an active Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with an LBS1 or LBS2 Special Education endorsement.
Experience writing, developing, and implementing IEPs and 504 plans.
Experience providing specially designed instruction, accommodations, modifications, and interventions.
Strong understanding of Illinois special education compliance, documentation, and service delivery requirements.
Ability to participate in IEP meetings and collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, support staff, families, and school leadership.
Experience collecting progress data, monitoring IEP goals, and adjusting instruction based on student needs.
Comfortable supporting students with academic, behavioral, communication, adaptive, functional, and social-emotional needs.
School-based special education experience preferred.

Key Responsibilities:
Provide specialized instruction aligned to student IEP goals and grade-level standards.
Support students with academic, behavioral, communication, adaptive, functional, and social-emotional needs.
Implement accommodations, modifications, interventions, and progress monitoring.
Provide push-in and pull-out instructional support as needed for resource programming.
Use structured teaching strategies, visual supports, communication supports, sensory supports, and behavioral interventions.
Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, support staff, families, and school leadership.
Participate in IEP meetings and maintain accurate special education documentation.
Support students throughout the instructional day based on their individual needs and service minutes.
Work with classroom aides and 1:1 support staff as assigned.
Create a supportive classroom environment that promotes access, independence, and student growth.

Compensation for this position ranges from $33.05 to $53.05. Eligible candidates may also receive healthcare benefits, housing, and meals/incidentals.
