Preferred qualifications and experience:

• Active Vermont Special Education Teacher certification (will consider candidates with pending certification)
• Previous experience teaching or supporting students with diverse learning needs
• Strong understanding of IEP development and implementation
• Excellent communication skills for collaboration with families, staff, and outside support professionals
• Commitment to differentiated instruction and fostering inclusive classroom culture
• Ability to build rapport with students and manage a self-contained classroom

Responsibilities in this role include:

• Creating and delivering individualized instruction and support to students in a self-contained 6-8th grade classroom
• Managing a caseload ranging from 6-10 students and maintaining accurate student records
• Developing and updating IEPs in collaboration with families, related service providers, and other staff
• Implementing targeted behavior management strategies
• Monitoring student progress and adapting instructional methods as needed
• Participating in team meetings, professional development, and school activities
