Special Education Teacher - Berkeley, California

For the upcoming 2026-27 school year, multiple contract assignments will be available supporting students throughout a large, vibrant urban district. These openings will be spread across various grade levels from PreK through 12th grade, offering a blend of flexibility and the chance to make a significant impact in diverse school communities. Desired Credentials & Experience:

• Hold a valid California teaching credential in Special Education
• Experience with Mild/Moderate Disabilities or Extensive Support Needs (Moderate/Severe), or Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE)
• Demonstrated ability to adapt instruction to meet individual student needs
• Collaborative approach to working with classroom teachers, related service providers, and families
• Strong understanding of IEP development, case management, and compliance documentation
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Prior experience in urban or culturally diverse schools is a plus

Responsibilities:

• Deliver individualized instruction and behavioral supports for students with disabilities
• Develop, implement, and track progress on IEPs according to state and federal guidelines
• Foster a supportive, inclusive classroom environment
• Employ a variety of strategies to reach diverse learners
• Communicate regularly with families, staff, and administrators regarding student progress
• Participate in ongoing professional learning and district initiatives
• Support transition planning and social-emotional growth for students
