Qualifications & Experience:

  • Valid Tennessee teaching license with 461 Special Education endorsement
  • Preferred experience working in a self-contained special education classroom
  • Excellent classroom management, collaboration, and communication skills
  • Dedication to fostering academic progress and holistic development for middle school-aged students

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver tailored instruction aligned with each student's Individualized Education Program (IEP)
  • Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs to ensure all students’ needs are met
  • Collaborate closely with families, support staff, and fellow educators to support student achievement
  • Establish and maintain a positive, structured classroom environment focused on respect and learning
  • Encourage students' independence, resilience, and self-advocacy
  • Participate in relevant school meetings, professional development, and special education team initiatives
