This itinerant substitute role offers the chance to contribute meaningfully across a variety of specialized programs and classroom environments. Responsibilities include:

  • Providing specialized instruction and support in classrooms ranging from Enhanced Autism Programs to Emotional Support and Multiple Disabilities Support.
  • Adapting to different assignments as needed, including covering classroom vacancies, staff leaves, and longer-term roles.
  • Collaborating with paraprofessionals, related service providers, and families to best support student growth and achievement.
  • Implementing IEP goals, effective behavioral strategies, and communication supports in alignment with students’ diverse needs.
  • Quickly acclimating to new settings and maintaining strong classroom management across assignments.
  • Contributing to a positive, inclusive, and adaptive educational environment.

Qualifications and desired experience:

  • Pennsylvania Special Education certification required or preferred based on specific assignment.
  • Previous classroom teaching experience in special education.
  • Demonstrated skill in implementing IEPs and delivering targeted instruction.
  • Proven abilities in classroom management and behavioral intervention.
  • Willingness and flexibility to support multiple classrooms and age groups.
  • Preferred experience with autism support, emotional support, life skills programs, ABA-informed practice, sensory regulation, and adapted curriculum.
  • Familiarity with IU or specialized school environments is a plus.
