Make a meaningful impact in the lives of students as a Special Education Teacher in Lehigh County, PA for the 2026-2027 school year. This contract opportunity spans multiple specialized programs and offers the chance to serve students with complex learning and behavioral needs in supportive educational settings.
You’ll be assigned to one of the following classrooms:
- Autism Support (CCEA – Carbon County Enhanced Autism Program): Deliver evidence-based instruction and support using ABA-informed strategies, communication supports (AAC, visual supports, PECS), behavior intervention plans, and sensory regulation techniques.
- Multiple Disabilities Support (LB Morris & Veterans Memorial Elementary): Provide adapted curriculum, personal care support coordination, and life skills development for students with significant disabilities.
- Emotional Support (ALAS – Allentown Learning Achievement School): Foster emotional regulation, use trauma-informed practices, and implement crisis prevention and de-escalation strategies in an emotionally supportive classroom.
Responsibilities:
- Provide engaging, individualized instruction aligned to IEP goals
- Maintain positive, structured classroom environments
- Collaborate with paraprofessionals, related service providers, and families
- Document student progress and adapt instruction to meet evolving needs
- Implement behavior management techniques and support plans
Qualifications and Experience:
- Active Pennsylvania Special Education certification (required or preferred, depending on the program)
- Experience teaching in special education settings
- Knowledge of evidence-based interventions for autism, multiple disabilities, and emotional needs
- Proficient in IEP development, classroom management, and team collaboration
- Must live within a 35-minute commute to the site
- Experience working in IU or other specialized school programs is a plus
Assignment dates run from August 10, 2026, to June 11, 2027 (following the school calendar) with a school-day schedule.
