Step into a pivotal role supporting students in a virtual school program based out of a district office near Birmingham, AL. This contract position focuses on delivering high-quality special education services to a small, manageable caseload of approximately seven students. You’ll collaborate closely with the special education director, ensuring that individualized education plans (IEPs) are implemented for students learning remotely but with in-person support and structure.

Key Qualifications:

  • Valid Special Education Teacher licensure
  • Experience working in virtual or remote school settings is highly desirable
  • Strong understanding of IEP development and implementation
  • Ability to adapt teaching strategies to diverse learning needs
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Must provide proof of licensure and comprehensive resume upon application

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Deliver special education instruction and resource support to a caseload of about seven students enrolled in the district’s virtual school program
  • Work onsite from the district office, ensuring access to resources and support from the special education director
  • Develop, review, and update IEPs in collaboration with staff and families
  • Track student progress and maintain accurate documentation for compliance
  • Communicate regularly with caregivers, staff, and administration regarding student needs and progress
  • Incorporate engaging, differentiated instruction for students with a range of abilities
