Special Education Teacher - Birmingham, Alabama

Your expertise will impact seven self-contained students as well as two students who receive targeted pull-out services. The school is seeking a proactive educator who is passionate about developing tailored educational plans and fostering a supportive classroom climate. This position is available to start as soon as possible.

What we're looking for:

• Valid certification in Special Education for grades K-3 (or eligibility to obtain)
• Experience working with students with diverse learning needs, particularly in self-contained and inclusion settings
• Strong knowledge of creating and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
• Ability to collaborate effectively with other professionals, families, and support staff
• Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
• Flexibility to adapt instruction to a range of student abilities and needs

Key responsibilities:

• Provide direct instruction and support to a class of seven self-contained students, while delivering pull-out support for two additional students
• Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with IEP goals and state standards
• Use differentiated strategies and interventions to promote student growth
• Communicate regularly with parents and educational team members about student progress
• Maintain accurate records and documentation in compliance with special education regulations
• Cultivate an inclusive, positive classroom environment
