Special Education Teacher - Birmingham, Alabama

You’ll work on-site in a supportive environment, collaborating closely with administrators and other special education professionals. The assignment runs from ASAP through June 10, with caseload and building assignment tailored based on need—no more than 20 students. You will have the chance to use your expertise to deliver direct instruction, develop and implement IEPs, and promote student growth both academically and socially.

Requirements:

• Current Alabama Special Education Teacher licensure with the appropriate endorsements (substitute certificates will not be accepted)
• Demonstrated self-contained classroom experience in a school setting
• Genuine interest in supporting students with varying abilities
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills
• Commitment to fostering a positive, inclusive classroom environment

Primary responsibilities:

• Deliver specialized instruction to a small group of students
• Develop, review, and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
• Monitor student progress and maintain detailed records
• Collaborate with general education staff, support staff, and families to implement best practices
• Adapt instructional methods and materials to meet individual needs
