Special Education Teacher in Blue Island, IL

This contract position is ideal for an experienced Special Education Teacher eager to work with a dynamic group of 4th and 5th graders in a vibrant educational setting near Blue Island. You’ll join a skilled special education team in a full-time role, covering FMLA leave with a possible extension, from August 14th through the end of September.

Key Details:

• Full-time: 35 hours per week, Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–3:00 PM
• Serve as a resource teacher at an intermediate school for 4th and 5th grade students
• Manage a classroom of 8-10 students, delivering push-in and pull-out support for ELA and Math
• Collaborate with general education teachers to ensure students receive personalized instruction aligned with their IEPs
• Participate in an onsite interview process to meet with staff and learn more about your classroom

Qualifications:

• Current Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with LBS1 endorsement is required
• Experience teaching or working within a school special education environment, particularly grades 4-5, is strongly preferred
• A collaborative mindset and flexibility to adapt to changing needs within a school setting
• Ability to start August 14th and commit through the end of September, with openness to possible extension
• Strong communication and organizational skills
