Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Valid Illinois Special Education Certification (LBS 1)
- Professional Educator License (PEL) required
- Fluent in both English and Spanish, able to provide instruction and support in both languages
- Previous experience in a special education classroom preferred
- Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary school team
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized and small group instruction to students with special needs
- Collaborate with general education teachers and support staff to plan and implement IEPs
- Foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment that respects multicultural backgrounds
- Translate and communicate with families in both English and Spanish as needed
- Monitor and record student progress, adjusting strategies as required
- Engage in meetings and professional development relevant to the role
