Make a meaningful impact supporting students in a specialized learning environment! This contract opportunity near Bridgeport, CT focuses on grades 2 through 5, working with a dedicated team that includes five paraeducators in a structured learning center. You'll work closely with students identified with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) or Specific Learning Disabilities (SLD), ensuring individualized instruction and support. The current caseload includes nine students, with the potential for a slight increase.

Your background in special education, especially experience with ASD and SLD populations, will enable you to thrive in this supportive classroom. Collaboration is key—you’ll partner with fellow educators and paraeducators to foster an environment where every student has the chance to succeed.

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Current certification in Special Education (or eligibility)
  • Experience working with elementary-aged students, preferably grades 2-5
  • Strong skills managing and differentiating instruction for ASD and/or SLD students
  • Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills for working with students, staff, and families

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instruction and individualized interventions for students with ASD and SLD
  • Adapt curriculum and teaching strategies to meet diverse learning needs
  • Collaborate with paraeducators and related service providers
  • Regularly monitor progress, collect data, and make informed adjustments to instruction
  • Maintain accurate documentation in accordance with program and legal requirements
  • Build positive relationships with students, fostering a safe and inclusive learning environment
