Special Education Teacher in Bridgeport, CT

This full-time contract opportunity offers the ability to facilitate academic and personal growth for a small group of 7th and 8th grade learners in a classroom of just 15 students.

Key Qualifications:

• Current certification as a Special Education Teacher or eligibility to obtain.
• Experience working with middle school students, preferably in a resource or self-contained setting.
• Strong understanding of IEP development and implementation.
• Excellent classroom management skills and the ability to create a positive learning environment.
• Collaborative spirit for working with fellow educators, specialists, and families.
• Commitment to fostering each student’s unique strengths and abilities.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Develop and deliver engaging lesson plans tailored to individual learning needs.
• Adapt curriculum and instruction for diverse learning styles.
• Implement IEPs and monitor student progress, maintaining accurate records and documentation.
• Provide both small group and one-on-one instruction to support achievement of academic and behavioral goals.
• Regularly communicate student progress to families and participate in IEP meetings.
• Create a safe, inclusive, and motivating classroom culture that encourages student confidence.
