Special Education Teacher - Bridgeport, CT

This contract position offers the opportunity to work closely with a dedicated caseload of about 25 students in New Haven, Connecticut, providing both push-in and pull-out services. Your knowledge and compassion will directly impact students’ progress toward their goals and help them thrive within their classes.

Key Qualifications:

• Possess a valid Connecticut Special Education Endorsement (qualified candidates with a Durational Shortage Area Permit (DSAP) will also be considered)
• Solid experience with writing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
• Minimum of two years of recent teaching experience, specifically working with high school students in a resource or similar special education setting

Primary Responsibilities:

• Support approximately 25 high school students through individualized instruction and targeted interventions, both inside and outside of mainstream classrooms
• Write and maintain IEPs that reflect students’ current needs and future aspirations
• Attend and actively participate in IEP meetings, collaborating with colleagues, families, and specialists
• Assess student progress through testing, regular observation, and ongoing goal tracking
• Serve as an advocate and resource for students, offering both educational and social-emotional support
