Special Education Teacher | Bristol, Connecticut

An exciting opportunity awaits for a Special Education Teacher with a passion for working with middle school students. Serving grades 5 through 8, this contract role offers both part-time and full-time options to fit your availability. If selecting part-time, the schedule would be Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., ensuring a healthy work-life balance. The caseload is intentionally limited—no more than 10 students—so you can provide individualized attention and support.

Experience & Qualifications:

• Valid Connecticut Special Education endorsement or eligibility for a DSAP
• Experience working with middle school aged students (grades 5-8) is strongly preferred
• Deep understanding of IEP processes, accommodations, and modifications
• Excellent communication, organization, and collaboration skills
• Ability to foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment

Position Responsibilities:

• Deliver targeted instruction to students in both individual and small group settings
• Develop, implement, and track IEP goals in collaboration with the support team
• Collaborate with general education teachers, staff, and families to ensure student success
• Monitor student progress and adjust teaching strategies as needed
• Maintain accurate records and participate in IEP meetings
• Foster a supportive atmosphere where all students feel valued and empowered
