This contract position is uniquely tailored for a dedicated educator ready to empower students with diverse learning needs. Your days will run Monday to Friday from 7:45 AM to 3:30 PM, with selected Wednesdays offering an early 1:15 PM dismissal, giving you those occasional shorter workdays.
Qualifications:
- Valid Connecticut Special Education Endorsement
- Prior teaching experience in a school setting
- At least 2 years of recent classroom teaching experience, ideally with special education students
- Strong communication and collaboration abilities
Role Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students
- Adapt general education lessons and teach small groups or one-on-one as needed
- Assess student progress regularly, update goals, and document outcomes
- Collaborate with general educators, parents/guardians, and school staff to ensure student success
- Foster a supportive, inclusive, and positive classroom atmosphere
- Participate in professional meetings, training, and team planning sessions as scheduled
