Special Education Teacher - Brunswick, Maine

Openings include one self-contained classroom for grades K-1 and one specialized program for grades 2-4 (FLS). Both positions are contracted for 37.5 hours per week, working alongside a supportive team committed to each child’s success.

Key Qualifications:

• Active Maine 282 Special Education certification required
• Previous experience teaching students with disabilities in a school setting
• Ability to adapt curriculum and instructional strategies for varied learning profiles
• Strong communication and collaboration skills with families, colleagues, and external specialists
• Creativity, flexibility, and a student-centered approach to problem-solving

Primary Responsibilities:

• Create and deliver individualized lesson plans tailored to students’ needs
• Manage classroom dynamics and foster a positive, inclusive learning atmosphere
• Conduct and document ongoing progress monitoring and data collection
• Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in partnership with the IEP team
• Communicate consistently with parents and caregivers regarding goals, progress, and concerns
• Stay current on best practices and compliance in special education

Compensation for these roles is hourly, ranging from $40-47, based on education and years of experience.
