A rewarding contract opportunity is available for a dedicated Special Education Teacher to work in a self-contained classroom serving middle and high school students with significant behavioral and mental health challenges. This full-time position offers the chance to collaborate closely with a social-emotional support specialist and a team of paraprofessionals, providing a meaningful and supportive learning environment.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid Special Education Teacher certification
- Experience working with students demonstrating severe behavioral or mental health needs preferred
- Strong understanding of IEP processes and implementation
- Ability to develop individualized academic and behavioral interventions
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Primary Responsibilities:
- Lead a blended classroom of middle and high school students, delivering tailored instruction aligned with students’ Individualized Education Programs
- Design and implement strategies to address behavioral and emotional needs, maintaining a structured and encouraging classroom setting
- Collaborate daily with the on-site social-emotional program professional to support student development
- Oversee and coordinate with paraprofessionals who rotate between students or provide dedicated 1:1 support, as required by IEPs
- Ensure thorough documentation and progress reporting in accordance with educational standards and compliance requirements
- Participate in team meetings, IEP reviews, and ongoing professional development
This role follows a Monday through Friday schedule, from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. Full five-day on-site presence is essential to foster continuity and support for students.
