Step into a meaningful opportunity supporting young students by leading a K-1 self-contained special education classroom. This full-time contract position centers on students primarily with developmental delays, offering the chance to collaborate with two classroom paraprofessionals. You'll guide four kindergarteners and five first graders as they navigate both general and adapted curricula, fostering their growth and success in academics and beyond.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and track Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals, accommodations, and documentation to ensure progress and compliance.
  • Employ behavioral interventions and positive behavior supports to create a safe, structured classroom environment.
  • Differentiate instruction across core academic subjects, adapting materials and teaching strategies to meet individual student needs.
  • Collaborate closely with administrators, support staff, related service providers, and families to coordinate support and maximize student outcomes.
  • Monitor student achievement and adjust teaching plans as needed.
  • Promote a nurturing classroom culture that encourages growth, inclusion, and curiosity.

Required Background:

  • Holding a valid Georgia Special Education Adapted Curriculum Certification.
  • Licensed and certified to teach all core academic content areas (Reading, Math, Science, Language Arts, Social Studies).
  • Demonstrated experience writing and executing IEPs.
  • In-depth knowledge of classroom management and behavior intervention strategies.
  • Able to provide three professional reference checks, including a recent supervisor from school leadership.
  • Previous experience in self-contained or special education settings highly valued.
