Step into a rewarding role supporting elementary students with diverse learning needs in a contract position suited for a dedicated Special Education professional. This assignment spans the full school year, covering a crucial maternity leave from August 21st through May 31st. You’ll work across two collaborative, student-centered elementary schools (grades K-4), located less than 20 miles apart, providing continuity of instruction and targeted interventions.
Key Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid Special Education Teacher certification.
- Experience with K-4 students and a range of disabilities: learning disabilities, other health impairments (OHI), and the autism spectrum.
- Demonstrated skill in delivering structured literacy instruction; expertise in Orton Gillingham or Wilson approaches is highly desired.
- Capacity to manage caseloads between 10-15 students (previous average was 12).
- Ability to travel between school sites as needed.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills within multidisciplinary teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for K-4 students.
- Provide differentiated instruction and behavior support in both inclusive and self-contained settings.
- Maintain accurate records, progress reports, and documentation aligned with school policies and the IEP process.
- Collaborate with general education staff, related service providers, and families to support student growth.
- Utilize a 40-minute daily prep period to plan instruction, develop materials, and participate in IEP meetings.
- Commit to the full contracted schedule: 7:30am – 3:30pm, 37.5 hours per week.
