This position focuses on providing targeted instruction to multicategorical learners in a supportive secondary school environment near Burnsville, MN. You’ll primarily work with small groups—1 to 2 students at a time—addressing a range of disabilities. The ideal candidate brings specialized expertise in either high school reading or math, helping students achieve meaningful progress throughout the school year.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid Special Education Teaching credential (Minnesota licensure preferred)
- Experience supporting high school students in a special education setting
- Demonstrated proficiency in high school level reading or math instruction
- Ability to differentiate curriculum for various disabilities and learning needs
- Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with students, staff, and families
- Compassionate, patient, and committed to inclusive education
Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized and small-group instruction focused on reading or math
- Develop and implement IEPs tailored to each student’s goals and needs
- Collaborate with general education teachers, paraprofessionals, and school support staff
- Monitor and report on student progress, adjusting strategies as necessary
- Foster a positive, supportive classroom environment that encourages student engagement and growth
- Communicate regularly with families to support student learning beyond the classroom
This contract position runs the full academic year, Monday through Friday, 8am-4pm. You’ll have the opportunity to make a direct impact on students’ academic journey, guiding them to achieve their personal best with individualized support.
