Special Education Teacher in Burnsville, MN

In this role, you'll work within two center-based programs—MAPD, supporting students primarily with Emotional and Behavioral Disorders (EBD), and ACES, providing instruction for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and significant communication needs. The ACES classroom follows the Unique Learning Systems curriculum, designed for students who benefit from alternative approaches.

Qualifications & Desired Experience:

• Valid special education teaching credentials
• Experience with EBD or ASD populations in school or center-based settings is preferred
• Familiarity with alternative curricula such as Unique Learning Systems considered an asset
• Strong classroom and behavioral management skills
• Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, families, and support staff
• Compassion, patience, and adaptability in dynamic classroom environments

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver individualized instruction and develop lesson plans tailored to each student's IEP goals
• Implement evidence-based strategies to support students’ academic and functional communication skills
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of student progress and behavior data
• Work closely with paraprofessionals and related service staff to foster holistic student growth
• Engage regularly with parents and guardians to ensure consistent communication and partnership
• Create a safe, structured, and positive classroom culture
