Make a meaningful impact in the 2025-2026 school year by supporting a small group of extraordinary students in an Intensive Resource Room. This contract-to-hire opportunity puts you at the center of a collaborative, nurturing environment where students in grades 1 through 6 with moderate to severe needs receive dedicated instruction and support.
You will work alongside a committed team, including paraprofessionals and related service providers (OT, SLP, SSW), to help students with Down syndrome, non-verbal autism, and other significant needs learn, communicate (with AAC devices), and thrive in a classroom tailored to their unique abilities.
Key Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid Special Education Teacher certification (or eligibility) required
- Experience supporting students with moderate to severe disabilities preferred
- Familiarity with AAC devices and alternative communication tools
- Ability to differentiate instruction and manage small group settings
- Skilled in collaborating with paraprofessionals and multidisciplinary teams
- Compassionate, patient, and adaptable approach to teaching
Role Highlights and Daily Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized and group instruction for a classroom of six students
- Adapt curricula and materials to meet each student’s learning and communication needs
- Utilize AAC devices and other supports to foster engagement and communication
- Partner with paraprofessionals to address daily routines, self-care, and academic goals
- Work collaboratively with OT, SLP, and SSW as part of a fully integrated support team
- Develop and maintain IEPs, progress-monitor student growth, and communicate effectively with families
