This full-time contract opportunity for a Special Education Teacher focuses on serving a diverse group of learners, including those with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and non-verbal needs. The position spans the entire school year and is based on a campus setting, bringing together students from three local school districts.

Key Qualifications & Desired Experience:

  • Active Special Education teaching certification
  • Experience working with students on the autism spectrum and those who are non-verbal
  • Familiarity with K-12 curriculum and ability to adapt to a range of grade levels
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with staff, students, and families
  • Resourceful, patient, and committed to differentiated instruction
  • Local residency or ability to reliably commute to the Dalton area

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to each student
  • Provide direct instruction and support to K-12 students across multiple classrooms as needed
  • Utilize evidence-based interventions and augmentative communication strategies for non-verbal learners
  • Maintain accurate records, track student progress, and communicate goals with stakeholders
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and structured learning environment
  • Collaborate with paraprofessionals and support staff to ensure continuity of care
  • Participate in regular team meetings and professional development
