Special Education Teacher | Cambridge, Massachusetts

Step into a dynamic role supporting young learners as a dedicated Special Education Teacher for the upcoming academic year. This rewarding contract opportunity runs from late August 2026 through June 2027, offering the chance to make a meaningful impact in a classroom tailored for students with significant needs. You’ll work directly with a small caseload of 5 to 8 students in a self-contained setting, supporting early learners in grades PK through 2.

Responsibilities:

• Deliver individualized and group instruction tailored to each student’s unique learning plan.
• Provide hands-on care for children with severe, multiple, physical, and medical disabilities, including assistance with diaper changing and comprehensive personal care.
• Develop, adapt, and implement lesson plans in alignment with IEP goals.
• Work collaboratively with support staff, therapists, and administration to ensure holistic student progress.
• Maintain thorough and accurate documentation on student performance and care.
• Foster a nurturing, safe, and inclusive classroom environment conducive to each child’s growth and comfort.
• Communicate regularly with families about student progress, needs, and daily updates.

Qualifications:

• Active Massachusetts Special Education teaching license (required).
• Experience working with students with severe and multiple disabilities, preferably in a self-contained classroom.
• Comfort with providing total physical care, including lifting and diapering.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Compassion, patience, and a creative approach to individualized instruction.
