You'll work 37.5 hours per week alongside dedicated paraprofessionals and other educators who share your commitment to student development. Your expertise will be crucial in fostering a positive and inclusive classroom climate for children exhibiting mild to moderate and moderate to severe behavioral needs.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Active Special Education Teacher certification
- Experience working with elementary-aged students (K-5), ideally in self-contained settings
- Strong understanding of behavioral management strategies and IEP implementation
- Collaborative mindset to partner effectively with paraprofessionals and other school staff
- Patience, creativity, and a passion for supporting students with unique learning and behavioral needs
- Excellent communication skills to engage with students, families, and team members
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver differentiated instruction tailored to students’ individual education plans
- Create a safe, structured, and nurturing classroom environment that encourages student engagement and achievement
- Develop and implement behavioral and instructional strategies addressing both academic and social-emotional growth
- Work closely with paraprofessionals, supporting their roles in the classroom and modeling effective practices
- Track and report student progress, collaborating with families and other specialists as needed
- Participate in IEP meetings and contribute insight to support each student’s educational journey
