Step into a rewarding contract opportunity this summer as a certified elementary special education teacher, supporting students in a focused 3-5 grade 12:1+1 program. This half-day (morning) position runs from July 9 to August 18 and is designed for professionals eager to make a difference in a collaborative, supportive environment. You’ll work alongside a teaching assistant to provide individualized instruction and guidance to a small group of students, anticipated to be 6-7 or fewer, each with academic and social communication needs.

Key Qualifications:

  • Valid certification in Special Education (Elementary level)
  • Proven experience working with students with academic and social communication needs
  • Ability to adapt teaching strategies to meet diverse learning abilities
  • Strong organizational skills and effective written/verbal communication
  • Positive, patient, and collaborative approach with students and staff

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging, individualized instruction to a small caseload of elementary students
  • Collaborate with a classroom teaching assistant to support each student’s learning plans
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing feedback and support as needed
  • Facilitate the development of both academic and social communication skills
  • Coordinate with fellow educators and administration regarding student needs and summer program adjustments as determined by CSE outcomes
  • Maintain clear documentation of student performance and goals
