Step into a vital role supporting early learners as a Special Education Teacher in an Arizona-based school setting. This rewarding, full-time contract opportunity centers on preschool-aged students (ages 3–5) and involves working side-by-side with the Child Find team to identify and address learning needs as early as possible.
You’ll plan and deliver dynamic, individualized instruction for both morning and afternoon sessions. As the school year progresses, your caseload may increase to as many as 40 students, split between AM and PM groups. Your expertise in early childhood special education will empower young learners and their families, ensuring effective interventions during these crucial developmental years.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction to preschool students during designated daily sessions
- Collaborate with the Child Find team to write, implement, and assess Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for newly identified students
- Ensure IEPs are up-to-date, effective, and compliant with state and federal guidelines
- Participate in ongoing assessments, progress monitoring, and robust data collection
- Attend and actively contribute to IEP meetings, team planning sessions, and staff meetings
- Utilize Wednesdays as dedicated professional development and planning time (no direct student contact)
- Partner with families and related service providers to foster strong communication and support
Ideal Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Special Education or a closely related field
- Valid Arizona Special Education Teaching Certification
- Experience working in early childhood special education preferred
