Key Qualifications and Experience:

  • Valid Special Education Teacher certification, with specific endorsement for Emotional Impairment (EI)
  • Experience working with students who have emotional or behavioral challenges preferred
  • Comfortable with managing a caseload of up to 12 students, sharing 4 with local high schools
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills for partnering with colleagues, paraprofessionals, and families
  • Commitment to adapting instructional strategies to meet diverse student needs

Core Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to students’ emotional and academic growth
  • Provide direct instruction, accommodations, and modifications aligned with IEP goals
  • Foster a safe, structured, and positive classroom climate—never more than 8 students present at once
  • Work alongside paraprofessional support staff for optimal student engagement and progress
  • Maintain regular communication with other educators, support staff, and parents/guardians
  • Accurately document and report on students’ progress, challenges, and achievements
  • Ensure the classroom remains a safe environment; no students with histories of physical aggression
