Key Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid Special Education Teacher certification, with specific endorsement for Emotional Impairment (EI)
- Experience working with students who have emotional or behavioral challenges preferred
- Comfortable with managing a caseload of up to 12 students, sharing 4 with local high schools
- Strong communication and collaboration skills for partnering with colleagues, paraprofessionals, and families
- Commitment to adapting instructional strategies to meet diverse student needs
Core Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to students’ emotional and academic growth
- Provide direct instruction, accommodations, and modifications aligned with IEP goals
- Foster a safe, structured, and positive classroom climate—never more than 8 students present at once
- Work alongside paraprofessional support staff for optimal student engagement and progress
- Maintain regular communication with other educators, support staff, and parents/guardians
- Accurately document and report on students’ progress, challenges, and achievements
- Ensure the classroom remains a safe environment; no students with histories of physical aggression
