Special Education Teacher – Contract Position in Chapel Hill, NC
A school within the Alamance Burlington School System is seeking a dedicated Special Education Teacher for a contract position running from January 5, 2026, through May 22, 2026. This full-time role involves working Monday through Friday, approximately 35 hours per week, supporting a caseload of 10 students with severe disabilities across grades K-12.
Responsibilities include delivering specialized instruction tailored to students with a range of complex needs, such as autism spectrum disorder (ASD), non-verbal communication challenges, difficult behaviors, and developmental delays. The teacher will develop and implement adaptive curricula, support behavioral interventions, and collaborate closely with other educational and support staff to ensure students receive individualized and effective educational experiences.
Key qualifications for this position:
- Active North Carolina Adaptive Curriculum Cross-Categorical Special Education license (K-12)
- Proven experience working with students with severe disabilities, including ASD and other developmental challenges
- Ability to manage a small caseload of diverse learners with varying needs
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
