Special Education Teacher in Charlotte, NC

The high school assignment uniquely blends supporting academic achievement with fostering independence and critical work skills for life after graduation, mostly serving 9th and 10th graders.

Desired Qualifications:

• Current special education teaching certification (or eligibility for certification)
• Experience working with students in either K-2 or high school resource settings
• Understanding of occupational course of study (OCS) programs or willingness to learn
• Commitment to differentiated instruction for diverse learners
• Strong collaboration skills with classroom teachers, support staff, and families
• Excellent communication, adaptability, and organizational skills

Core Responsibilities:

• Deliver individualized instruction to students with mild to moderate needs in a resource setting
• Develop and implement IEPs tailored to student goals and progress
• Track student achievement and maintain thorough documentation
• Provide or facilitate appropriate transition and work skills as part of the OCS program (for high school position)
• Support students’ academic, social, and functional development
• Foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment where everyone feels valued and engaged
