A full-time 8th Grade Special Education Resource Teacher is needed for the 2026-2027 school year in Charlotte, North Carolina. This middle school position will primarily focus on resource and inclusion support in Math and Reading, providing targeted instruction and accommodations to help students access the general education curriculum and make progress toward their IEP goals.
The ideal candidate will be comfortable collaborating closely with general education teachers while providing individualized and small-group support to 8th grade students.


RESPONSIBILITIES

- Provide Special Education resource and inclusion support to 8th grade students
- Deliver targeted instruction and intervention in Math and Reading
- Provide individualized and small-group instruction based on student needs and IEP goals
- Implement accommodations, modifications, and instructional strategies outlined in student IEPs
- Develop, implement, and maintain Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Monitor student progress and use data to guide instructional decisions
- Collaborate with Math and Reading/ELA teachers to support students within the general education classroom
- Participate in IEP meetings and collaborate with families, teachers, related service providers, and administrators
- Maintain accurate documentation, progress reports, and student records
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that promotes student independence and academic growth

QUALIFICATIONS

- Active North Carolina teaching license appropriate for the Special Education assignment required
- Previous Special Education or middle school teaching experience preferred
- Resource and inclusion experience preferred
- Experience supporting students in Math and Reading preferred
- Strong understanding of IEP development, implementation, accommodations, and progress monitoring
- Strong communication, classroom management, and collaboration skills
- Ability to work effectively with general education teachers and other members of the educational team
