Key Experience and Licensure:

  • Valid Special Education Teacher license in North Carolina required
  • Previous work with autism spectrum disorder strongly preferred
  • Background in behavior management strategies highly desirable
  • Ability to provide support with toileting and diapering as needed
  • Experience in early childhood or elementary settings is a plus
  • Skills in communication and collaboration with interdisciplinary teams

Your Role and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee a self-contained classroom, currently 4-5 students with potential growth to 7-8
  • Implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to each student’s unique needs
  • Create a structured, responsive classroom environment that encourages positive behaviors and social-emotional growth
  • Use evidence-based instructional approaches and interventions to promote student engagement and progress
  • Coordinate closely with paraprofessionals, specialists, and families for holistic student support
  • Monitor progress data, adapt strategies as needed, and maintain detailed documentation
  • Support students with all aspects of daily living, including toileting and diapering

Position Details:

  • Schedule: 7:30 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday through Friday (35 hours per week)
  • K-3 classroom environment with increasing enrollment
