Key Qualifications:

• Active Special Education Teacher certification in South Carolina is required
• Background in working with middle school students, preferably in a self-contained or similar setting
• Solid understanding of best practices in special education, instructional adaptations, and individualized education plans (IEPs)
• Strong communication skills for collaborating with general education staff, families, and support teams
• Compassionate approach with a dedication to fostering students’ academic and personal growth

Primary Responsibilities:

• Provide direct instruction to middle school students in a self-contained environment, adapting materials to meet individual learning styles and needs
• Develop and implement IEPs, working closely with students, families, and colleagues to set and achieve educational goals
• Monitor progress, collecting data and making instructional adjustments to enhance student learning and independence
• Collaborate with school professionals and support staff to ensure a comprehensive educational experience
• Foster a positive, inclusive classroom culture, emphasizing respect, encouragement, and engagement
